US Ambassador Kim: Gjonaj to pursue reform course

TIRANA, March 4/ATA/- US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim held Wednesday a meeting with Albania Justice Minister Etilda Gjonaj which lasted two hours.

During the meeting the Ambassador Kim encouraged Minister Gjonaj to further pursue Albania’s  justice reform course.

The US Ambassador’s meeting with the Justice Minister comes a few days after President of the Republic Ilir Meta denounced at the Special Anti-Corruption and Organized Crime Structure (SPAK) Justice Minister Etilda Gjonaj and other top functionaries, stating that they have violated many laws attempting an open coup d’etat.

Minister Gjonaj has denied Meta’s allegations on taking his own powers by nominating candidates for the six vacant seats on the nine-person Constitutional Court, calling it a “presidential political show”. //a.i/
