PM Rama: Zero chance that visa regime be restored

TIRANA, June 19 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – There is zero chance that the visa regime for Albanians traveling to EU Schengen countries would be restored, Prime Minister Edi Rama stated at a TV political talk show on Wednesday evening.

“The vote in Dutch parliament was a result of playing politics and the game with the Albanian nationals goes on also thanks to the help by certain Albanians are offering in order to have black sheep and gain votes,” Rama said.

Commenting on the asylum seekers issue, Rama noted that “Albanians are European citizens who are denied the right to move freely to the labour market. This is the reason they apply for asylum as they want to find a job.”

The Premier said that number of Albanian nationals applying for asylum in Germany, the Netherlands and other EU member states has dropped drastically.

The government head cited the example of more than 100 000 citizens who have been seeking for a job in Germany last year.
