Government committed to push forward reforms despite resistance, stones and fire hurled by opposition

TIRANA, June 1 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama pledged his government will continue to deliver on major state-building, economic, justice and social reforms as he addressed the opening of the electoral campaign for the June 30 local elections at Tirana’s Olympic Park on Saturday afternoon.

“While the opposition keeps hurling stones and fire in their fight for power, we will resolutely press ahead with the state-building reforms,” the government head, also leader of the Socialist Party, told a cheering crowd of supporters.

Rama said that his government’s urban renaissance programme being implemented across the country has revived light of hope for development of Albanian cities and villages.

“One should be completely blind and not to distinguish between the urban degradation and our urban renaissance vision that has revived light of hope in every city and town we have been governing,” Rama stated.

The government head underlined that the opposition feared the ongoing justice system reform, and vowed to take major state-building and economic reforms forward.

“They are cowards, alarmed by the judicial reform, whereas we are courageous and we are determined to build a state in this country, where justice is one for everyone and everyone is equal before the law,” Rama stated.

According to him, “they (opposition) are in a state of panic and that’s way are resorting to violence.”

“They have left in despair and that’s why are doing desperate actions. Whereas we have been elected to lead and that’s why we should just move forward. We are not the best, yet nobody is better than us in this country,” he said.
