TIRANA, April 11 /ATA/ – The robbery in Rinas airport does not pose a threat to national security.
This is what Minister of Defense, Olta Xhaçka, stated during a televised interview explaining the reasons behind the deployment of Military Police troops inside the perimeter of “Nënë Tereza” airport.
According to her, it is the duty of General Staff to mobilise the Military Police whenever the military infrastructure is threatened.
The remit of the Army’s General Staff is to mobilise the Military Police whenever the military infrastructure, operationality of military structures as part of their mission come under threat. It is not the case of national security coming under threat. It was the case of breaking through the perimeter of the airport, which is a facility of special importance and is part of the so called critical infrastructure of the Republic of Albania, also of the Armed Forces. We are an integral part of airport since a part of the runway belongs to military infrastructure, she said.
