TIRANA, October 20 /ATSH/ – Chairman of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha commended the participation of university teachers in the protest held by students and high school pupils in Tirana today, describing it as one of the most significant days of the youth-led uprising.
In a statement to the media, Berisha remarked that the university teachers, with the utmost determination, delivered a devastating response to the “strategy of red terror.”
“Today, university professors proved themselves to be true intellectuals. At a critical turning point in the student uprising, they delivered the definitive response,” Berisha said.
“The square, filled today with university teachers and students, served as a dignified response from these noble people—true intellectuals—who cast aside the cloak of conformity and joined their students in the public square. There is a clear distinction between a true intellectual and a pseudo-intellectual: a true intellectual believes in and serves as an unyielding advocate for the public interest,” he continued.
The Democratic Party leader accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of using violence during the protest the yesterday, alleging that paid individuals were used against the demonstrators. “I say it once again: this was one of the most significant days—a day with a decisive impact. It is not that he will manage to escape this revolt; he might have managed to delay or slow it down, but today he received what he deserved—and he will continue to receive it every single day,” said Berisha. /e.i/r.e/p.s./
