TIRANA, July 21 /ATA/ -“Waste remains a concern for Albania, but the government of Albania has taken steps for addressing these concerns”, stated Director of GIZ-Albania Hans-Jurgen Cassens in an interview for the ATA.
He expressed his satisfaction with the government of Albania decision to remove from circulation the plastic bags.
“We are happy with the government decision because the plastic bags one gets when does shopping are one of the main reasons of creation of waste that is not easy to eliminate”, emphasized he.
Cassens added that, “GIZ is cooperating in the context of the National Strategy on Waste. We are cooperating with three municipalities, Rogozhinë, Himarë and Peqin in an effort to introduce the best mechanisms of waste reduction, re-use and recycling”.
However, Cassens said that not everything is a government responsibility and called on the society to fight this problem.
He added that GIZ has also launched during the recent times even a new regional project focused on Adriatic and Ionian Sea waste. /j.p/p.s./
