TIRANA, arch 30 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted via Facebook on Thursday shortly after the German newspaper Die WELT corrected a quote from the Premier’s interview published two days ago on the seizure of some 613 kilos of pure cocaine hidden in a banana container from Colombia in February.
PM Rama was quoted as saying that the cocaine haul was nabbed by the Albanian authorities in collaboration with the Italian authorities.
However, the government head said two days ago that interview was not a correct and faithful transcript since the drug haul was seized during a super operation conducted by the Albanian police without outside help.
“The prestigious German daily Die WELT corrected in record time the wrong quote from my interview with the journalist over the truth (unintentionally distorted by the journalist while providing the transcript) over the seizure of 613 kilos of cocaine by the Albanian law enforcement agencies without any international cooperation and help,” Rama wrote on his Facebook page.
“It could have best been a joint operation in collaboration with our partners (as in many other operations) which would have not understated the operation’s value and the role of our agencies, but the truth is that this is not the case,” Rama wrote while publishing the corrected excerpt from the interview with Die WELT.
