TIRANA, Nov. 3 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama will meet NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte at the alliance’s headquarters in Brussels on Tuesday, according to NATO’s official statement.
The meeting is expected to address issues related to Albania’s cooperation with NATO, security in the Western Balkans, the country’s contribution to alliance missions and the strengthening of its defence capabilities, areas that have featured in previous talks between the two officials.
During their meeting in Brussels in September 2025, Rama and Rutte also discussed efforts to revive Albania’s defence industry, plans for a new military port at Porto Romano and the possibility of Albania’s participation in the European Union’s Security Action for Europe (SAFE) programme.
Their discussions in June 2025, on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague, also covered investment in the Port of Durres and preparations for the alliance’s 2027 summit, scheduled to take place in Tirana.
NATO has said that no statements or media remarks will be made during the meeting. Photographs will be published on the alliance’s official website after the meeting concludes.
