TIRANA, Nov. 1 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Sunday shared footage marking the completion of the second section of the Papër-Ura e Grykshit road in central Albania region of Elbasan, part of Corridor VIII.
“Another investment that improves road safety and makes connections between areas easier,” Rama wrote alongside the video posted on social media.
The 1.8-km section runs along the left bank of the Shkumbin River and includes a 330-metre bridge at kilometre 15, as well as other infrastructure works, including culverts and retaining and protective walls.
Its completion is expected to improve road safety and facilitate connections between surrounding areas.
The section forms part of a major infrastructure project integrated into the Elbasan–Rrogozhinë stretch of the Corridor VIII motorway.
Plans envisage extending the motorway from Ura e Grykshit towards Peqin. The route is expected to significantly reduce travel times to the coast and the new Porto Romano Port, while also serving as an important security corridor connected to the pan-European transport network.
