Protesting youth hurled stones at Parliament building, sparking violent clashes with police

TIRANA, October 15 /ATSH/ Following a clash with the police on Durrës Street—where the Ministry of Education is located—the students headed toward the Parliament building.

While passing by the Ministry of Economy, they kicked and broke one of the ministry’s doors.

Some of the protesters damaged security cameras located on Elbasan Street. Meanwhile, the police used tear gas against protesters gathered in front of the Parliament, who were throwing stones.

The protesters also threw stones at the building of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy. Besides, some young people sat down in the street, blocking traffic near this ministry.

A group of the protesters completely blocked Elbasan Street, preventing vehicles from passing—with the exception of an ambulance.

For a third straight day, student protest boycotts have disrupted Tirana, blocking major capital roads. A large police force has been deployed to maintain order and safeguard property. /k.s/p.s./
