TIRANA, Sept 24 /ATA/ The parliamentary session was interrupted again today after Democratic Party MPs blocked the parliamentary podium following debate over the house arrest order issued by the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organised Crime (SPAK) against former State Intelligence Service chief Vlora Hyseni.
Democratic Party Secretary General Flamur Noka said national security had been compromised, adding that Albania’s security services had been placed under the influence of criminal structures.
Noka called on the prime minister to appear before parliament to explain the situation and demanded his resignation.
“The prime minister must come before parliament and answer for what has compromised national security and NATO security, and he must step down,” he said.
Republican Party leader Fatmir Mediu called for an urgent parliamentary discussion on former SHISH chief Vlora Hyseni’s case, saying it should be treated as a matter of national security. He urged the Conference of Chairmen to seek information from the prime minister, president and SHISH about her appointment and dismissal, warning that continued disruption of parliament would undermine parliamentary democracy and national security.
MP Jorida Tabaku said the case had raised serious concerns about Albania’s national security and damaged the country’s image. She called for NATO member states to seek information about the developments and urged parliament to address the issue rather than ignore it.
The session was briefly suspended after Democratic Party Secretary General Flamur Noka blocked the parliamentary podium, preventing Minister of State for Parliament Erjona Ismaili from taking the floor.
