TIRANA, Sept 23 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ Opposition MPs in the Legal Affairs Committee today debated the measure imposed by SPAK on former State Intelligence Service (SHISH) director Vlora Hyseni. Democratic Party MP Oerd Bylykbashi called for Parliament to convene to discuss the situation created following the arrest of the SHISH chief.
According to him, this is a development that directly affects national security and requires an institutional response from Parliament. “Parliament must convene following the arrest of the SHISH chief,” Bylykbashi said, describing the situation as extremely grave.
Democratic MP Saimir Korreshi also opposed the committee proceeding as normal, questioning the priorities of institutions in a situation he linked to national security. “Does this state have priorities when national security is at stake? With the measure against the SHISH chief, the state has collapsed today,” he said.
For his part, Legal Affairs Committee chair Ulsi Manja insisted the agenda should continue and that the draft bill on territorial reform be taken up for review. He stated that “SPAK’s actions form part of the normal functioning of institutions in a democratic state.”
