Berisha: Referendum on territorial reform

TIRANA, August 29 /ATA/ Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha stated today that “We shall do the utmost to hold a referendum on territorial reform.”

During an online conversation with citizens, Berisha said that territorial division is a process of extraordinary significance.

He emphasized that, “We are actively engaging with 100 municipalities—and potentially 20 to 30 more following extensive community consultations—to fiercely defend our views. To ensure every voice is heard, we are exploring all avenues to organize a referendum.”

The DP leader said that, “We are aligning our entire economic and social strategy toward one vital objective: bringing Albanians home and repopulating our country. We will create a powerful legal framework driven by the conviction that the people of Albania are our most valuable asset—at any cost”.

When asked if he would travel to the U.S. on September 9, Berisha stated: ‘The U.S. Republican Party is holding a conference in Texas for the midterms. The International Democrat Union—where the Republican Party plays a major role—has put together a delegation of about 30 party leaders from the union to attend the conference in Texas.

“In addition to my delegation invitation, I received an invitation from an American institute affiliated with the conference. I am currently awaiting the necessary documents before finalizing my participation. While my meeting schedule is not yet set, I expect to confirm those details in the coming days,” he said. /p.s./
