TIRANA, Aug. 25 /ATA/ – The National Investment Scheme is encouraging farmers and agricultural businesses to expand cultivation and invest in farm mechanisation, the Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development (AZHBR) said on Tuesday.
The Agency highlighted Forest Lake, a company in Konispol in southern Albania specialising in pomegranate and citrus production.
The company cultivates more than 70 hectares of pomegranates and 12 hectares of citrus. Its produce supplies the domestic market, while most is destined for export.
Forest Lake representative Shpëtim Shehu said the company began growing pomegranates in 2016 on 10 hectares and now plans to further expand production through new investment.
“We started planting pomegranates in 2016, with 10 hectares. We applied to AZHBR for new planting and agricultural machinery and signed the contract,” Shehu said.
Under the 2025 National Investment Scheme, Forest Lake has signed an agreement covering new planting and the mechanisation of its agricultural operations.
The investments are aimed at expanding cultivated areas, increasing output and improving yields, helping boost agribusiness in the Konispol area, AZHBR said.
The national support schemes are designed to encourage investment in agriculture, modernise farms and increase production capacity, with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness of Albanian products and expanding their presence in foreign markets.
