Rama shares images from across Albania as summer season reaches its peak

TIRANA, Aug 14 /ATA/ The summer season is attracting large numbers of domestic and international tourists, with a diverse programme of cultural, artistic, sporting and gastronomic events expanding Albania’s tourism offer beyond its traditional coastal destinations.

Prime Minister Edi Rama on Friday shared a photo album showcasing Albania’s key tourist destinations, highlighting growing interest among visitors in alpine and cultural tourism alongside the country’s traditional beach resorts.

Beyond the coastal towns, Berat, Gjirokastër and Korçë are also drawing large numbers of domestic and foreign tourists, with cultural and sporting activities complementing the cities’ heritage, gastronomy and natural attractions.

They are also supported by the TEA – Tourism Events of Albania calendar, the digital platform of the National Tourism Agency, which features events taking place in cities and destinations across the country.

TEA helps tourists explore a wide range of activities, from art, music and festivals to sports, gastronomy, local traditions and cultural experiences.

The platform has evolved from a simple events calendar into a comprehensive digital guide covering destinations, points of interest and tourism services.

According to UN Tourism, Albania now ranks among the countries with the highest tourist inflows relative to their population.

The study draws on the latest UN Tourism data combined with population statistics from the World Bank, showing that Albania is now among the countries where the number of visitors significantly exceeds the number of residents.

The figures highlight the remarkable expansion of Albania’s tourism sector in recent years. Once a relatively undiscovered destination, Albania has become one of Europe’s fastest-growing tourism markets, attracting increasing numbers of international visitors with its coastline, cultural heritage and diverse natural landscapes.
