TIRANA, Aug 14 /ATA/ The Ministry of Defence said 13 wildfire incidents were being monitored across the country in recent hours, with 10 still active, two under control and one fully extinguished.

Despite difficult terrain and challenging conditions in some areas, Civil Protection structures continue coordinated ground and aerial operations, prioritising the protection of populated areas.

In Lurë, Dibër, where one of the most serious situations has been reported, the operation involves 200 municipal personnel, 50 Armed Forces troops, 15 State Police officers and 18 volunteers, supported by two fire engines and two Air Tractor aircraft. The fire has been brought under control near residential areas, with no current threat reported to homes.

The fire in Qafë Helmes, Bulqizë-Selishtë, remains active, although response teams have brought part of the blaze under control.

In Tirana, firefighting operations are continuing on Mount Dajti, with nine protected-area administration personnel and two Armed Forces helicopters deployed. A further 30 fire and rescue personnel, supported by six vehicles, are operating in Priskë and Farkë. The situation there remains under control, with no threat to populated areas.

In Krujë, ground and aerial operations have yielded results at the Abazë and Zidoll fire sites. Armed Forces aircraft provided aerial support during the day, while the situation in Zidoll has stabilised following helicopter intervention. Efforts are continuing to contain and fully extinguish the remaining fire.

Operations and monitoring of the remaining fire sites are ongoing in Gjirokastër, Lezhë, Elbasan and Shkodër. Rainfall in Përmet and Qukës is helping to bring the situation under control, while the fire in Paulesh, Peqin, has been completely extinguished.

According to the Defence Ministry, no threats to populated areas have been identified in any of the reported locations.

The National Civil Protection Agency, in coordination with central and local civil protection structures, continues to monitor the situation and coordinate operational resources, prioritising the protection of lives and homes and the swift containment of active fires.
