Lamallari: New amendments empower State Police, eliminate long vacancies

TIRANA, July 23 /ATA/ Minister of Interior Besfort Lamallari welcomed the newly approved amendments to the State Police law, calling the reform a way to strengthen the force while preserving its core values.

According to Lamallari, with today’s Parliamentary approval, the State Police gains stronger leadership, a streamlined structure, and a clear chain of command for faster decision-making.

The revamped career system restores the link between rank and leadership, ensuring promotions are based on merit and experience. This eliminates long vacancies and bureaucratic delays, creating a stable institution with accountable leaders, appreciated the minister.

Also, Lamallari emphasized that the amendments guarantee modern human resources management, fair rules for job transfers, and a balanced disciplinary system.

“Years of police experience are treated as vital state capital. Under the conditions of new security challenges and transnational crime, Albania needs a stronger, more professional State Police that is closer to citizens,” said Lamallari. /m.m/p.s./
