Rama unveils “Double Your Entrepreneurship” programme targeting agro-processing, technology and digital economy

TIRANA, July 17 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said the national “Double Your Entrepreneurship” programme aims to support the creation of rural partnerships between private companies, farmers, and small and medium-sized businesses.

Addressing an event on the initiative, Rama highlighted rural development as a priority, stressing the need to further promote agro-processing, which he said continues to offer substantial opportunities for growth.

Rama added that the programme would also provide incentives for entrepreneurship linked to tourism.

The prime minister stressed that the programme is designed to support small and medium-sized businesses, rather than large enterprises.

“Large companies will not have access to this programme, even if attempts are made to use the usual workarounds seen in dealings between the private sector and government. We have closed every loophole,” he said.

Meanwhile, the prime minister said that Minister of Local Government Ervin Demo has been tasked with coordinating municipalities’ involvement in the programme, particularly regarding joint ventures.

According to Rama, the available funding streams are designed to boost productivity, which he described as one of the main drivers of Albania’s economy today.

Rama said the programme would also provide funding for the manufacturing sector as a whole.

“Going forward, support will also be provided for transport and logistics, as well as technology and the digital economy. We have many businesses and sectors that, with financing, can move to a higher level,” he said.
