TIRANA, July 6 /ATA/ – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha on Monday hosted a delegation from the European Affairs Committee of the French National Assembly, led by Chairman Pieyre-Alexandre Anglade, for talks focused on European Union enlargement and Albania’s accession process.
The discussions centred on current developments in the EU enlargement agenda and the importance of maintaining both the momentum and credibility of the accession process at a time of renewed attention to the Western Balkans’ European integration.
Foreign Minister Hoxha reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to advancing reforms and pursuing its EU membership objective, stressing the government’s determination to capitalise on what he described as a historic opportunity for enlargement.
“With a clear roadmap, concrete results and the ambition to join the European Union within this decade, Albania remains committed to moving decisively forward on its European path while contributing to a stronger, safer and more united Europe,” Hoxha said.
He underscored the importance of continued support from European partners, particularly France, noting that French engagement at both governmental and parliamentary levels plays a significant role in sustaining the credibility of the enlargement process and strengthening the European perspective of Albania and the wider Western Balkans.
The meeting also highlighted France’s role in shaping a more cohesive, strategically autonomous and resilient Europe, as both sides reaffirmed their support for closer cooperation in the context of Albania’s EU accession efforts.
