Communications Service marks 95th anniversary, Nufi says it is a strategic component of national security

TIRANA, July 1 /ATA/ The Communications Cyber Command, part of the Albanian Armed Forces, marked today the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Communications Service.

The ceremony held on this occasion was attended by Minister of Defence Ermal Nufi, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Arben Kingji, as well as generals, officers, non-commissioned officers, civilian staff, soldiers, and veterans of the Communications Service, among others.

In his greeting speech, Nufi stressed that the Communications Service is a highly important and irreplaceable component of the Armed Forces, without which no operation can be carried out, as it ensures communications.

He expressed gratitude to all generations who have served in this structure, particularly praising the contribution of veterans and current personnel who continue to ensure the functioning of communication and cyber defence systems.

Minister of Defence Nufi further stated that Albania, as a NATO member state, has significantly strengthened its communications and cyber defence capabilities, enabling full interoperability with Alliance systems.

“As a NATO member state, Albania has a clear responsibility and ambitious goals. Today, our communications systems are interoperable with those of the Alliance, enabling secure and reliable communication in every joint operation. This is the result of your professionalism, as well as continuous investment in the modernisation of technologies and human development,” the minister said.

Minister of Defence Nufi expressed gratitude for Albania’s strategic partnership with the United States of America, as well as for all allies and partners who have supported the development of the country’s capabilities.

“Thanks to this cooperation, we have raised training standards, modernised infrastructure, and built capabilities that are now fully integrated into the security architecture of the Alliance,” the minister said.

He stressed that the modernisation of the Armed Forces remains a priority for the Albanian government, including investments in technology, critical infrastructure, and the professional development of personnel.
