Protests against Zvërnec investment have reached their 20th day

TIRANA, June 19 /ATA/ Protesters gathered again today at Skanderbeg square in Tirana downtown for the 20th consecutive day and marched towards the Prime Minister’s Office.

Demonstrators carrying banners and flags marched to oppose the Zvërnec tourist development.

During their march, the protesters passed citizens watching World Cup matches on giant screens in the city center, urging them to join their cause.

Activist Arben Kola urged demonstrators to maintain a peaceful march to the Prime Minister’s Office and disregard any attempts to incite confrontation.

Addressing the crowd before the rally, Kola urged citizens to remain peaceful and avoid escalating the situation, stressing that their grievances should be resolved through the justice system.

“We will remain calm, avoid provocations, and demand full accountability,” said Kola.

He urged businesses to take a stand by pausing their services during the rally.

Protesters positioned a concrete mixer at the scene as a deliberate symbol of illicit money laundering in the construction sector. This follows a wave of SPAK operations against Albanian businessmen accused of using real estate investments to launder drug money on behalf of criminal organizations.

Following several hours of speeches, demonstrators began a mass procession through the capital’s streets.
