Project re-imagines Albanian legends through animation and visual storytelling

TIRANA, June 19 /ATA/ – A cultural project aimed at reinterpreting Albanian myths and legends through contemporary visual storytelling, animation and digital art has launched its second edition, organisers said on Friday.

The initiative, called NovaTale, is being implemented by the FusionACT Centre and seeks to introduce younger audiences to Albania’s cultural heritage through modern forms of artistic expression.

The new edition began with a series of workshops involving students from Tirana’s Artistic Lyceum, who participated in the creative development of story concepts based on traditional Albanian legends.

Through group discussions and collaborative work, students explored ways of adapting historical narratives into stories that resonate with contemporary audiences and address present-day themes, including technology, environmental awareness and social change.

According to FusionACT, the project aims to bridge cultural heritage and innovation by transforming traditional folklore into narratives that speak to younger generations.

Participants contributed ideas for new interpretations of well-known legends, combining elements of mythology with modern storytelling techniques and visual design.

The project is supported by Albania’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports.
