President Begaj visits Kyrgyzstan, seeks closer bilateral ties

TIRANA, June 18 /ATA/ – President Bajram Begaj paid an official visit to Kyrgyzstan on Thursday, where he was received by President Sadyr Japarov.

The talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations, with Begaj expressing his commitment to deepening dialogue and building more dynamic cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests.

The two sides pledged to accelerate procedures for concluding agreements currently under negotiation and to expand cooperation in areas of common interest.

Begaj said stronger ties would help reinforce friendship and trust between the two nations.

“The two countries will grow closer if their citizens have greater opportunities to get to know one another. Establishing a direct air link between Tirana and Bishkek would significantly contribute to this goal,” he said.

A joint declaration signed by Begaj and Japarov was described as an important step toward advancing relations between Albania and Kyrgyzstan.

The two presidents also voiced support for continued cooperation within international organizations.

Begaj congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the term beginning on Jan. 1, 2027, expressing confidence that the country would successfully uphold the values of the United Nations in that role.

During his visit, Begaj also addressed the Issyk-Kul International Forum, established in 1986 at the initiative of Kyrgyz writer and philosopher Chingiz Aitmatov. He praised Aitmatov’s efforts to create a platform for intellectual dialogue between East and West, emphasizing that the power of intellectual thought remains essential to fostering understanding, peace and a shared vision for the future.
