PM Rama: It is puzzling why peaceful ‘flamingos’ do not fly away from predatory ‘crows’ who seek to hold Albania hostage

TIRANA, June 18 /ATA/ Regarding protests over the planned Zvërnec investment, the main obstacle is a refusal by critics to look at the facts. Rather than collaborating with institutions and experts to find solutions, opponents are rejecting a project that aims to implement proper safeguards for the area, stated today Prime Minister Edi Rama in the social media.

In this way, they turn into instruments for the ravens and crows surrounding them, stated the prime minister further on.

“I truly feel for those who protested out of a sincere alarm for our environment. The pink flamingo silhouettes even lent a charming, creative touch to the demonstration. Regrettably, this civic defense of nature has devolved into a narrow political agenda. It is now short on substance, lacking in reasoned debate, and marred by ugly digital and real-world bullying against anyone who disagrees”, emphasized PM Rama.

“The age-old saying that “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” holds a timeless truth. While good intentions are the essential starting point for public engagement, history shows they are never enough. Noble beginnings frequently devolve into intolerance when imagination disconnects from reality and passion eclipses reason. Unless driven by factual evidence and a willingness to listen, even the best causes devolve into exclusionary dogma. Ultimately, the road to hell isn’t paved with bad intentions, but with well-meaning convictions that refuse to face reality”, stated the prime minister.

Further on, he stated that this situation perfectly embodies how good intentions can lead to poor outcomes. The core issue is not the activists themselves, but their reluctance to collaborate with institutional experts and align with factual data. By isolating themselves from real solutions, they become tools for political opportunists. While I genuinely respect their underlying environmental concerns, I cannot understand why these well-meaning groups align with bad-faith actors who use slander, conspiracy theories, and absolute obstruction to stall Albania’s development and hold the country’s progress hostage.

“Engaging in constructive dialogue about Albania’s future doesn’t diminish the grace of the flamingos. Conversely, crows and ravens remain mere harbingers of gloom. Since November 28, 1912, they have served as a haunting shadow over the nation, yet they are powerless to derail the good intentions of the flamingos”, concluded the prime minister.
