TIRANA, June 18 /ATA/ Chairman of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha stated today that the sole focus of the Assembly’s agenda should be to respond to the grievances raised by the people in protest.
During his remarks in today’s plenary session, Berisha also stated that, “The Assembly leadership has engaged in the censorship of my remarks by striking entire sentences from the official record. You may redact my words from the minutes out of apprehension, but the public has already heard them.”
Berisha described the protests as unprecedented in scale and emphasized that the citizens’ demands match an agenda already supported by the European Parliament.
He urged the Assembly to clear its schedule and debate the protesters’ demands, emphasizing that Parliament is duty-bound to address the nation’s pressing political crisis. /a.f/p.s./
