Berisha: Albanian and Italian centre-right share same core values

TIRANA, June 13 /ATA/Chairman of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha met on Saturday at his office with figures associated with Italy’s right-wing political sphere.

In a post on social media, Berisha shared details of his meeting with Fabrizio Tatarella, Vice-President of the Tatarella Foundation, describing him as a well-known Italian public figure.

“I had the pleasure of receiving in my office my esteemed friend Fabrizio Tatarella, Vice-President of the Tatarella Foundation, a prominent Italian public figure,” Sali Berisha wrote.

“He is the son of the late Salvatore Tatarella, former Member of the European Parliament and a distinguished friend of Albania, and the nephew of Giuseppe ‘Pinuccio’ Tatarella, one of the central figures and key architects, together with Silvio Berlusconi, of Italy’s modern and successful centre-right,” he added.

During the meeting, Tatarella was accompanied by Massimiliano Adilardi, head of Italy’s Fratelli d’Italia branch in Albania, along with coordinators Neritan Alku and Ardit Minarolli.

According to Berisha, “Fabrizio Tatarella is in Tirana for the presentation of Giuseppe Tatarella’s work, The Right Towards the Future, an unpublished manuscript featuring a foreword by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.”

Berisha stated that he expressed his appreciation during the meeting for the contribution of the Tatarella family to the long-standing friendship between Albania and Italy, as well as for their continued support for Albania and the country’s Democratic Party.

“We also discussed at length the extremely difficult situation in which Albania currently finds itself, including drug trafficking and the narcotics economy, which represent a serious threat not only to Albania’s economy, security and democracy, but also to friendly European Union countries, particularly Italy,” he said.

“I emphasized that Albania and Italy are two countries bound by history, culture, friendship and shared strategic interests. Cooperation between our two countries, particularly in the fight against organised crime, drug trafficking and corruption, is vital for the security of Albanian, Italian and European citizens,” Berisha wrote.

Berisha further noted that he expressed to Tatarella his conviction that “the Albanian and Italian right wing share the same fundamental values: freedom, family, nation, the rule of law, a free economy, and a strong and prosperous Europe.”

“I expressed particular gratitude for the visit and for the presentation in Tirana of the political legacy of Giuseppe Tatarella, a legacy that remains relevant for every centre-right force which believes that politics must be guided by vision, responsibility and service to citizens,” he said.
