Tourist infrastructure in Apollonia is being upgraded

TIRANA, June 11/ATA/ Apollonia National Park—a premier destination blending rich history, nature, and cultural heritage—is upgrading its infrastructure to provide visitors with smoother access and a more contemporary experience.

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja showcased ongoing infrastructure upgrades at Apollonia. This comprehensive project focuses on redesigning the park’s visitor routes, building a state-of-the-art visitor center, and introducing inclusive parking facilities tailored for buses, visitors with disabilities, and electric vehicles.

This project is led by the Albanian Development Fund, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports and the Municipality of Fier, with financial backing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the EU Delegation

According to figures published by Minister Gonxhja, Apollonia Park had more than 37,000 visitors in the first 5 months of the year. In April alone, 17% more visitors were registered compared to the same month in 2025.

Apollonia National Park, a premier cultural heritage site near Pojani (Fier), is divided into two distinct zones. Zone A (the ancient city) spans approximately 120 hectares and is encircled by a 4.5-kilometer fortification wall showcasing stunning Greco-Roman and Byzantine architecture. Zone B covers the extramural area, featuring the archaic, Hellenistic, and Roman necropolises, alongside ancient temples and private ruins. /a.f/r.e/p.s./
