TIRANA, June 9 /ATA/ – Strengthening human resources is central to Albania’s path toward European Union membership, a representative of the EU Delegation in Tirana said on Tuesday.
Speaking at the 3rd National Conference on Vocational Education and Training, EU official Andrea Rizzo praised Albania’s progress in developing its vocational education system.
He said economic growth is increasingly driven not by natural resources or infrastructure, but by people and their skills.
“Today, growth is driven by people, their knowledge, skills, creativity and ability to adapt,” Rizzo said, adding that human capital development is at the core of Albania’s reform agenda.
He stressed the need for policies that combine skills development, job creation and social inclusion, supported by effective public policy and strong institutional partnerships.
Rizzo said vocational education and training had become a key tool to address skills shortages, support competitiveness and expand opportunities for young people, adding that “skills matter”.
He also noted progress in making vocational education more responsive to labour market needs and said the EU remained committed to supporting Albania’s reforms in employment and skills development.
“The EU is proud to support Albania’s efforts to modernise its employment and skills system,” he said.
