TIRANA, June 2 /ATA/ Deputy Minister of Economy and Innovation Olta Manjani stated today that social security agreement with Poland guarantees that Albanian citizens who live and contribute in either country will not lose their working years, allowing them to merge their insurance periods and secure their pensions.
During the discussion of the draft law in the Committee on Legal Affairs and Public Administration, Manjani emphasized that the agreement ensures the recognition of insurance periods for benefits related to pensions, unemployment and financial support for family members in the event of loss of life of the insured person.
According to her, the agreement defines clear mechanisms for inter-institutional cooperation between the institutions of the two countries, facilitating procedures for beneficiary citizens.
The deputy minister underlined that the agreement does not immediately create financial obligations for the state budget because the benefits are based on the contributory principle and are financed by the Institute of Social Insurances.
Manjani considered the agreement part of the expanded network of bilateral agreements that Albania has concluded with European Union countries and beyond, in function of the social protection of Albanian emigrants.
According to her, this is a direct commitment of the Albanian state to the diaspora to strengthen ties with it and to guarantee that no one loses their rights due to movement between different countries.
This is the 11th agreement that Albania has with European Union countries on the recognition of retirement ages and the 17th in total with other countries, expanding the social protection network for our citizens. /j.p/p.s./
