TIRANA, May 28 /AT/ – Defence Minister Ermal Nufi said on Thursday that Albania and Kosovo are discussing defence industry and munitions cooperation.
In a press statement after a regular cabinet meeting, Nufi said Albania was also in talks with Croatia and other countries interested in cooperating with Tirana in the defence sector.
“We are in discussions with Kosovo, Croatia and other countries that want to cooperate with Albania,” he said.
Nufi said the government had established “a very solid legal and financial framework” for the development of the defence industry.
“I strongly believe it was a good government decision, both for KAYO and for the development of the military industry,” he added.
Defense Minister said security needs were becoming increasingly important not only from a defence perspective, but also in terms of exports to other countries.
“With Kosovo, we are closely connected – their security is our security,” Nufi said, referring to his recent visit to Prishtina.
“In all areas of cooperation, we aim to complement one another in meeting security needs, both for Albania and for Kosovo,” he added.
