Ylljet Aliçka wins international “Letteratura dal fronte” literary prize in Italy

TIRANA, May 23 /ATA/ – Albanian writer Ylljet Aliçka has been awarded first prize in the international “Letteratura dal fronte” literary competition for his novel “Waltz of Happiness” (“Un sogno italiano”), organisers said Saturday.

The award, hosted in the Italian city of Cassino, recognises European literature that addresses human crisis and promotes messages of peace through artistic storytelling.

This year’s edition featured a shortlist dedicated to Albanian literature, selected by a jury of 200 literature students from the Universities of Trieste and Cassino. The finalists included works by Lea Ypi, Ornela Vorpsi, Anita Likmeta and Aliçka.

The official award ceremony for Aliçka is scheduled to take place on October 3 in Cassino.

Previous winners of the prize include Hungarian Nobel laureate Imre Kertész, Croatian writer Miljenko Jergović and French author Alice Ferney.
