TIRANA, May 23 /ATA/ – U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Nancy VanHorn said on Saturday that American exchange programs continue to play an important role in fostering leadership, innovation and positive change in Albania.
Speaking at the event “250 Years of Democratic Values – Connecting Alumni, Creating Impact,” organized by the Albanian association of former participants in U.S. exchange programs (AUSA), VanHorn praised alumni for their commitment to strengthening ties between Albania and the United States.
“Our exchange programs represent the best of America,” VanHorn said, referring to initiatives including Fulbright Program, the International Visitor Leadership Program and the Study of the U.S. Institutes program.
“Each of you has experienced America firsthand and has become a leader equipped with the knowledge and global networks needed to drive innovation and positive change,” she added.
VanHorn highlighted several Albanian alumni whose careers and professional achievements were shaped by participation in U.S. exchange initiatives, describing them as examples of the long-term impact of the programs.
She also welcomed efforts by AUSA’s new leadership to strengthen and formally expand the organization, encouraging members to remain actively involved through new projects and initiatives.
“The friendship between the United States and Albania is stronger because of leaders like you,” VanHorn said.
