TIRANA, May 11/ATA/ In context of the international conference United for Climate, Minister of Environment Sofjan Jaupaj was guest to a podcast with moderator Blendi Salaj, where he discussed extensively the National Climate Adaptation Plan 2026–2036.
During the conversation, Minister Jaupaj emphasized that, “This national plan introduces 66 concrete measures aimed at transforming key areas like agriculture, tourism, and transport into tangible, sustainable projects across the country”.
He underlined that these measures are designed to increase the country’s resilience to climate change and to strengthen institutional capacities in managing environmental risks.
According to the minister, the next step is to secure funding for their implementation.
Jaupaj said that, “Albania has currently won a major project within the Green Climate Fund, worth 40 million USD, which will enable concrete investments in the entire hydro-meteorological system so that we have accessible data regarding floods, fires, and aims in particular to establish and strengthen early warning systems”. Early warning means early response, and early response saves lives, protects the economy and prevents damage”, said Jaupaj, while emphasizing that investments in this respect are very important as a national priority in facing climate challenges. /e.xh/j.p/r.e/p.s./
