A journey through history: International guests experience unique, off-internet photography at ATA exhibition

TIRANA, May 10 /ATA/ An exhibition in Tirana Castle showcasing the history of the Albanian Telegraph Agency (ATA) is drawing significant interest from foreign tourists. The exhibition features iconic photographs from ATA’s archives, highlighting the agency’s role in documenting Albania’s history through professional journalism.

Thrilled by the exhibition, two visitors from Italy highlighted the unique combination of rare photographs and authentic vintage ATA equipment on display. “It’s highly informative, offering a glimpse into Albanian history and Tirana that is impossible to find on the internet,” they shared. “Even the old photo processing tools are a rare sight.

“I am amazed by the beauty and modernity of Tirana on my very first day here. This exhibition offers a captivating journey through time, beautifully documenting the country’s profound evolution”, said the tourist from the USA.

A couple of tourists from Italy said that Tirana has attractive spots, while adding that this exhibition was a pleasant surprise during their second visit to Albania.

A German couple was captivated by the exhibition documenting the 1990s Albanian exodus, describing it as a compelling visual record of the country’s most pivotal and critical moments.

The joint exhibition by ATA and the General Directorate of Archives (DPA) showcases the evolution of Albanian media, documenting its journey from an institutional tool to a cornerstone of national memory.

According to Director General Valbona Zhupa, this exhibition honors the legacy of those who built the Albanian Telegraphic Agency. Furthermore, it serves as a reflection on the crucial role of trusted information in modern society, navigating digital challenges and strengthening institutional credibility for the future.

ATA houses an archive of over 300,000 photographs and film negatives dating from 1913 to the present, with ongoing digitization efforts underway. /a.f/p.s./
