TIRANA, May 7 /ATA/ – Lëpusha, a village nestled in the Albanian Alps, is increasingly emerging as one of Albania’s most distinctive mountain tourism destinations, driven by growing investment in agritourism and sustainable rural hospitality.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images from the northern alpine area on Thursday, highlighting its untouched natural landscapes, biodiversity and expanding tourism potential.
“Amid pristine nature, rich biodiversity and breathtaking alpine scenery, the ‘Kelmendi’ guesthouse, supported through the national support scheme, has become a successful model of agritourism in the area,” Rama wrote.
The guesthouse, developed by local entrepreneur Dod Gjerkaj, combines traditional hospitality from the Kelmend region with locally sourced food and nature-based tourism experiences.
Visitors to Lepusha can hike mountain trails, explore the Albanian Alps and experience traditional village life, helping position the area as a year-round destination for both domestic and foreign tourists.
Authorities say initiatives such as the Kelmendi guesthouse are contributing to sustainable tourism development in northern Albania, while also supporting local employment and economic growth in remote mountain communities.
