TIRANA, April 15 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Wednesday that an apartment building damaged by a fire in Tirana a day ago will be fully rebuilt by the developer, although preliminary findings indicate the blaze was not linked to construction.
In a post on social media platform X, Rama said authorities could not “leave affected residents alone with the damage to their property.”
At the same time, he added that taxpayers should not bear the cost of losses that ought to be covered by insurance.
Rama said the incident highlighted the importance of insuring homes against disasters, calling it a necessary measure.
“Families affected should feel reassured on this point,” he said, wishing them well and thanking firefighters and law enforcement for what he described as a heroic effort in saving lives.
