TIRANA, April 1 /ATA/ – Defence Minister Ermal Nufi commemorated the 17th anniversary of Albania’s NATO membership on Wednesday, describing it as a historic milestone and a strategic achievement.
In a social media post, Nufi said joining the world’s largest military alliance was not merely a formal act but a clear choice for Albania to embrace Euro-Atlantic values, democracy, and collective security.
Over the past 17 years, he said, Albania has built a credible profile as an ally by enhancing defence capabilities and modernizing its Armed Forces. He also praised the professionalism of men and women in uniform representing the country with dignity in international missions.
Nufi added that Albania has become an important factor of stability in the region, contributing alongside allies in peacekeeping missions and international operations.
“Our journey continues with greater responsibility, ambition, and commitment to remain a reliable ally and active contributor to global security,” Defence Minister said.
