Rafting and canyon exploration draw adventurers to Osum River

TIRANA, March 23 /ATA/ As the weather warms up, the Osum Canyons in Berat attract water sports adventurers. Prime Minister Edi Rama on Monday shared images that exude the energy of adventures in Osum.

Now the water level in the river is suitable for rafting, so athletes and water sports enthusiasts take advantage of the spring weeks to explore the canyons.

Rafting has become a favorite adventure for all age groups. Along a 13‑kilometer stretch framed by cliffs rising 120 meters high, explorers encounter dazzling waterfalls and striking natural sculptures carved by erosion—landmarks affectionately named ‘the eye,’ ‘the devil’s gate,’ ‘the crocodile,’ and ‘the cathedral.’”

The canyons offer a unique experience, attracting visitors from around the world to explore the magic of this area. The Osum River extends for 161 kilometers, yet its most captivating section is undoubtedly the canyon located in the district of Skrapar. The Osum Canyon is the longest in the country and boasts the greatest average height. At its end, in Vau i Grepckes, the Osum forms a delta that local residents use for leisure and bathing during the summer season.
