TIRANA, March 16 /ATA/Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha, speaking at a meeting of the party’s parliamentary group, said the opposition is the only hope for Albanians on the path to European Union membership.
Berisha urged the full mobilization of the opposition to confront the government, calling for intensive dialogue with voters. He said lawmakers must engage with both supporters and non‑supporters, stressing that civic responsibility and public participation are the only way out of what he described as a dramatic situation.
Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha urged citizens to join a protest planned for March 22 in Tirana, calling it an important moment of public pushback against the government. He said greater and more successful efforts are required from the opposition and from every Albanian, describing March 22 as a day of inspiration. Berisha called on citizens to show their anger and revolt, and to respond directly to Prime Minister Edi Rama, declaring that no citizen should stand above the law.
Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha said Albania’s political crisis can only be resolved through the departure of the prime minister. He added that, despite what he described as a critical situation in parliament, the opposition must step up its demands, proposals and amendments to safeguard the public interest.
Berisha accused the government of curtailing parliamentary sessions to just 15 minutes, saying the opposition would work to turn the chamber into a platform for fully discrediting the ruling majority. He added that the government deserves such exposure before both Albanians and the international community.
