Opposition seeks hearing with PM over editorial with Vučić on Balkan EU integration

TIRANA, March 11 /ATA/ – Main opposition Democratic Party (DP) lawmakers have summoned Prime Minister Edi Rama to a parliamentary hearing over a joint editorial he co-authored with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on regional integration.

According to opposition MPs, the editorial, published in German media, proposes that Western Balkan countries gradually integrate into the European Union’s single market and the Schengen area before becoming full EU members.

They argue that “the proposal conflicts with resolutions previously adopted by the Parliament of Albania calling for full EU membership” and are seeking clarifications from Rama on the initiative.

The request also highlights concerns about the potential impact of this approach on the EU accession process and the strategic interests of both Albania and Kosovo.
