TIRANA, March 1 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Sunday that 36,390 employees in Albania’s education system will benefit from a salary increase ranging from 4% to 5.17%.
Speaking on his “Let’s Talk” podcast,” Rama said the measure follows a 2.5% indexation of gross salaries that took effect on Jan. 1 for teaching and non-teaching staff in pre-university education.
In addition, employees earning between 58,000 and 74,000 leks per month will receive an extra 3,000 leks, bringing the overall increase for those categories to between 4% and 5.17%, he said.
Beneficiaries include around 30,000 employees in pre-university education, 1,500 in vocational education, and 4,890 in preschool education and student dormitories.
Rama described wage indexation as a new feature in the state budget, saying it reflects improved economic capacity and the government’s ability to redistribute growth gains.
