Landslide stabilization works ongoing on Elbasan-Qafë Thanë road

TIRANA, February 26/ATA/ Following a significant landslide on the Elbasan-Librazhd-Qafë Thanë road, the Albanian Road Authority is working across multiple fronts to stabilize the area and restore normal traffic as soon as possible.

Work is in progress to remove soil along the existing road, enabling access for the detailed geological investigation and structural assessment of the affected area

Simultaneously, heavy machinery has been deployed to begin regulating the Shkumbini river’s flow. The river flow is being oriented to the left side, to create the necessary space for the construction of an alternative road along the railway line, guaranteeing the continuity of movement in the area.

According to the Road Authority, the geological findings will guide the revision of the road project, ensuring enhanced safety and lasting sustainability.

The Albanian Road Authority said that it will provide updates on repairs and stabilization measures. /a.f/p.s./
