Albanian, Hungarian defence ministers pledge stronger collective security, alliance ties

TIRANA, Feb 23 /ATA/ – Defence Minister Pirro Vengu paid an official visit to Hungary on Monday at the invitation of his Hungarian counterpart, Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky.

The visit began with a ceremonial reception at Heroes’ Square in Budapest, a site of historical significance.

The ceremony honoured the sacrifices of the Albanian and Hungarian armed forces and underscored what officials described as shared values of freedom, peace and collective security.

During the visit, the two sides highlighted their joint commitment within the framework of the NATO alliance, as well as cooperation between their troops serving alongside each other in key international missions, including Kosovo Force (KFOR) and European Union Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR ALTHEA).

The visit reaffirmed what the ministry called a shared willingness to further strengthen bilateral ties in defence and security and to deepen cooperation in support of regional and Euro-Atlantic stability.
