TIRANA, Feb 19 /ATA/ “Albania is no longer a country on the sidelines of international diplomacy. It is now a nation that actively engages, proposes, mediates, and assumes responsibility.”
This is what Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, stated today during the presentation of the draft law “On the Foreign Service of the Republic of Albania.”
According to Spiropali, this new reality is not coincidental but rather the outcome of a profound political, institutional, and diplomatic transformation spearheaded by Prime Minister Edi Rama. Under his leadership, Albania has positioned itself as a country with a prominent voice, proactive initiatives, and international credibility.
“We were a nation that sought recognition but lacked the influence to secure it. A nation knocking on doors but often unsure how to engage effectively. From a state striving for candidate status, we are now a nation focused on completing negotiations by 2027. From being perceived as a challenge, we are now regarded as a sought-after partner in international fora. A nation that champions regional initiatives, facilitates dialogue, and assumes international responsibility. This is the contrast between our past and present standing,” stated Spiropali.
The Foreign Minister affirmed that, in an increasingly uncertain world compared to just a few years ago, Albania has clearly charted its path: EU membership, strengthening the transatlantic alliance, and actively contributing to regional stability.
Spiropali emphasized that Albania has clearly chosen its path: EU membership, strengthening the transatlantic alliance, and actively contributing to regional stability, turning this vision into a concrete state project in the face of global uncertainty and challenges.
