TIRANA, Jan 30 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ The European Parliament rapporteur for Albania, Andreas Schieder, today called on institutions to support the work of the Special Structure against Organized Crime and Corruption.
During a press briefing, Schieder was asked regarding the removal of immunity for Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku.
He clarified that the European Parliament does not comment on legal or judicial issues.
“This represents a good European standard, but institutions must carry out their work. In this case, SPAK must perform its duties, based on its evidence and everything it deems necessary under the law. We have stated that all institutions should support the work of SPAK. However, the European Parliament cannot intervene or comment on any specific case,” he said.
Schieder expressed his belief that the Parliament will hold proper discussions and reach decisions in accordance with the Constitution and its procedural rules.
