Minister: Respect for law and institutions does not preclude right to dissent

TIRANA, Oct. 22 /ATA/- Albania needs dialogue, respect for the rule of law and shared responsibility as it advances towards European Union membership, Minister of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption Adea Pirdeni said on Thursday.

In a statement, Pirdeni stressed that the right to dissent must go hand in hand with respect for the law and institutions.

“The right to dissent and respect for the law and institutions can never be mutually exclusive,” she said.

Pirdeni said Albania needed its citizens to be willing to listen to one another at this stage of the European integration process.

“Albania needs all of us, our willingness to listen to one another, the courage to engage in dialogue and a shared responsibility to move forward the country we want to leave to present and future generations,” she said.
