Rama: I will address Knesset on Monday

TIRANA, January 22 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today at the plenary session of the Parliament on ratification of the accession agreement of Albania to the Charter of the Board of Peace that Albania is experiencing a historic moment for its international position.

Rama told the Parliament that on Monday he will address the Knesset in his capacity as Prime Minister of Albania, in the same format that has previously been reserved for the President of the United States and a limited number of foreign leaders in the history of that institution.

He appreciated this opportunity as a special honor not only for him, but also for the ruling majority and for Albania, emphasizing the significance of representing our country at the international level.

Rama underlined that, “For Albania, for me and for us, any special invitation that is not extended to all the countries of the world is considered an honor because we are not the center of the world, nor are we a significant economic or military actor.

“We are a very small country that disappeared from the map of Europe for 50 years under communism. And when it opened the door to connect with the world, it was mistreated from within and through the international mirrors of those who threw undeserved stones at the expense of Albania and Albanians. But, now, the country has elevated high thanks to the work, determination and extraordinary dedication of a decade that has overturned the evil history of Albania”, said Rama.

Addressing the opposition MPs, Rama said that they are needed in the Assembly to remind Albanians of that “island of shame”.

The prime minister concluded by reminding the saying, “The dogs bark, but the caravan moves on.”/gj.m/r.e/p.s./
