Salla: New €52M initiative provides flexible, need-based aid to farmers

TIRANA, January 21 /ATA/ Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Andis Salla said that he has begun a tour of hearings with farmers across the country, with the aim of better adapting the national farmer support scheme to their needs.

During the visit to Kavaja and Rogozhina, Minister Salla emphasized the significance of listening to farmers and their involvement in adapting the scheme, enabling them to provide suggestions and highlight any issues related to the scheme or their benefits.

“We have a budget of around 52 million euros for this scheme, so that the farmers can apply and benefit,” said the minister, adding that his tour will continue in all municipalities of Albania.

Regarding the damage caused by the floods in several areas, Minister Salla said that the government has set a financial package for all the affected farmers. He added that work is underway to fully document the damages in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, civil emergency and municipalities, in order to come up with concrete decisions and quick compensation for the affected farmers.

“As you saw a few days ago, we have finalized a comprehensive funding package from the Albanian government so that all those affected will be included in the financial package. We are documenting the damages caused together with the Ministry of Agriculture, civil emergency and municipalities so that we have a complete record and come up with a decision, which will be made public very soon”, he said. /e.xh/a.f/p.s./
