Beci: Buna and Drin Rivers within safe levels, 266 ha flooded in Shkodër

TIRANA, Jan 10 /ATA/ The situation in the Shkodër Municipality is stable, with water levels below critical thresholds and no reported issues.

Shkodër Mayor Benet Beci stated today that, based on periodic on-site monitoring, water levels in the Buna and Drin rivers remain under control and within safe limits.

However, over the past 24 hours, river levels have risen by approximately 10–20 cm compared to the previous day.

At the Old Buna Bridge, the water level is 8.30 m, while at the Bahçallëk Bridge, the Drin River stands at 8.05 m. In the Dajç administrative unit, the water level is 6.48 m.

According to Beci, the total flooded area in Shkodër Municipality is 266 hectares. There are no homes affected by flooding or with standing water anywhere within the municipality.

Meanwhile, in the Ana e Malit administrative unit, the road to Obot is still impassable for low-clearance vehicles. Beci noted that only high-clearance vehicles can navigate the Obot road, where water levels over the surface exceed 50 cm.

The flooded agricultural land is estimated at 130 hectares, mainly in the villages of Obot and Muriqan.

In the Dajç administrative unit, the flooded agricultural land is estimated at 35 hectares, primarily in Pentar.

In the Velipojë administrative unit, approximately 101 hectares of agricultural land are reported to be flooded.

Shkodër Municipality continues to monitor the situation closely and notes that water levels are gradually receding in the affected areas.
