Defense Minister says over 300 residents assisted after floods in port city of Durres

TIRANA, Jan 7 /ATA/ – Defense Minister Pirro Vengu said on Wednesday that more than 300 residents in Albania’s coastal city of Durres were provided with shelter, food and medical care after heavy rainfall caused flooding in the area.

Vengu said the residents were assisted “in record time” and accommodated at convalescent facilities operated by the ministries of Defense and Interior.

The Defence Ministry said the response was coordinated with local authorities, municipal teams, civil emergency services and the Armed Forces, which remain deployed to help restore normal conditions in several flood-hit neighbourhoods.

Authorities said they continue to support affected families and remain on alert for further developments linked to severe weather.
